Whilst setting my tomato plants I came across this beautiful fellow.
I carried him to a safer place and he rewarded me with his agressive stance; t’was ever thus!

Fascinating Beetles ... I found one in my garden last year and re-sited it to the log pile. Apparently they can spend up to 6 years underground . . .

Not seen one of these since I was a child.....takes me back longer than I care to think about! Well done on moving him to a safer place, I wouldn't have been so brave.
