The Carrot Crunch

This year I decided to start a veg patch and thought the unproductive left hand side of my garden would be perfect. First to remove the plants that were there, Grass, Buddleja, Hebe, and a very difficult Rose sucker, avoid the lovely Bumble bee nest, oh and move a full compost bin!

I set about looking at all sorts of raised beds but due to limited spends decided I couldn’t afford them, so roped my partner Danny into making me some. I managed to get the wood from a local wood merchant very cheaply. Danny set about making them, and the finnished result was lovely, But they had to match my beehive style compost bin, so had to paint them. once this was done there was just the filling them up and the best bit, The planting, But what to plant ? We have got Carrots, Spring onion, Beetroot, tomatoes, peppers, aubergine and courgettes and not forgetting my first attemp at sweetcorn.
At the moment it is all growing happily with Me having to evict the odd slug!
I have added a picture too for all to see and will add some more when we have more veg growing.

Fabulous job - the raised beds look great and fit so well with your compost bin. It's a great looking corner of your garden.

They look great, am thinking of something along the same lines myself, just trying to find a spot for them. Well done, it looks really good!

They look very posh. Not as rustic and cobbled together as my own.
I hope you get plenty from it, and enjoy reaping your rewards.
