A new plot

Well after the veg beds producing well last year I decided I wanted to grow more of my own food, what with rising food prices!
So I applied for an allotment plot, thinking I was going to have a long wait within 6 weeks I got the phone call that there was a half plot I could take over.
So from the 8th of march my digging and weeding commenced, well only been up there twice! But once there its addictive, thinking I was only going to spend a few hours I was there most of yesterday 19th march in the bright sunshine with all the other allotment folk. It was great to get to meet my allotment neighbours and everyone seems lovely, lots of people to swap tips with.
I will be making use of my raised veg beds that were in the garden at the allotment to grow strawberries and herbs, and in place of the raised beds at home I am hoping to get a few hens to provide us with eggs. This is all going to be a struggle to fit in when working full time but I think it will be worth the effort in the long run, and I will be happy in the knowledge that the food we are eating is chemical free but best of all cheap. I have added some pics of my very weedy plot and a few of the dug areas, but still a long way off from planting.

You'll be enjoying the fruits of your labours before long and it's good to hear you were so quick to get your allotment. There are a few members on here with an allotment so you'll enjoy exchanging tips with them as well as with your allotment neighbours.
Good luck with your chickens too. :)
