A wander round my garden...

Hi everyone …after all the rain, wind, rain, hail, thunder, rain, gales, rain etc I managed to get out in my garden today for the first time in weeks. The lawn was squelchy underfoot but the washing was drying on the line & the cats were following me about.

Last night there was a beautiful red sky at which shepherds everywhere would’ve been delighted…

…so I was looking forward to a sunny Sunday & a bit of horticultural therapy.

It wasn’t too bad in the morning…cloudy but the sun was there somewhere! You know the old saying…there’s enough blue to make a sailor a pair of trousers…well definitely a pair of shorts today.
So I took a few pics to share with you of my weather beaten chums in the garden…first the cosmos which have gone haywire but still give great colour.

Then the little Greek urn on the wall which holds a mass of bright yellow flowers ( think they’re million bells) which is my profile pic…it doesn’t get any of the rain so ironically I’ve had to keep watering it!

You know I love recycling things so this is my old watering can & an old, wooden machine tools crate from a local factory!

The trough looks like a bomb’s hit it but some things are still shining thru’…

The osteospernum have never failed nor the surfinas…

And finally….the little million bells (looking a little slug eaten) in the bike basket & the honeysuckle berries.

….oh & then down came the rain & in came the Phlobs!!

It does all look lovely as Donnah says. Love the million bells and Cosmos are one of my favourite flowers. What are the blue/purple flowers in the pic between the lobelia and osteospermum they are gorgeous (surely not Hostas?). No rain here today -so far!

Well we're both ignorant together then Fluff. No doubt someone will tell us!

I've had it for years & it has leaves a bit like the solomon's seal but flowers like what I used to call vetch in the wild....is that good English? Sound like Vicki Pollard!!

Glad you liked it...despite the rain our gardens still give pleasure don't they? All the hard work is worth it....

Don't you know what that plant is Hywel?

3 Aug, 2009

I think it's a type of vetch but I don't know the exact one.

I've googled on vetch, does look like one and belongs to the pea family. Does that mean it climbs Fluff and is it well behaved? Don't want any hooligans in my garden lol

It doesn't climb Lily & I would say it's well behaved ...it lives in a long wooden planter but has stayed at one end...not tried to muscle in on other plants bit!
I've had it for years so I don't have a plant label going that far back!
