July and SUN

A journey through the hot days of the current heatwave.
A fluttery Small Tortoiseshell (aglais urticae) takes advantage of the Escalonia.
The one disadvantage of gifts is often a lack of a label. You do not need me to tell you that this is a Dianthus; I only wish I could tell you its name. Perhaps there is someone out there who might know..?
The white-flowers on the left belong to Dianthus deltoides Albus. The yellow (Sedum?) was here already.
Primula florindae Doing well and smells divine.
Primula japonica ‘Postford White’
Erigeron karvinskianus ‘Profusion’ (Fleabane) to the left and another inheritance (Stonecrop?) to the right.
Thalictrum flavum reaches for the sky. I think this is the first year I have NOT put a stake in to keep it upright. I do like thalictrum, easy to grow and rewarding with their fluffy flowers. This one is easily two metres.
I let these Papaver do what they will. They surprise with the variation in colour and delight the eye. An attracton for every passing bee. Though bees are not in profusion compared to last year.
A collection of roses. (List available on request) :)
All in all the garden is doing well despite the adverse weather this year. I am determined NOT to complain that it is too hot; I think I have spent the last few years complaining about the poor weather and lack of ‘summer’. Now that it is here, let us rejoice in it! But stay safe from the fierce heat good people.

So few butterfies here; lovely to see that one. Enjoyed the photos. Have found the bees love the thalictrum in my garden but it's not as tall as yours. Gorgeous roses too.

Lets just say, the Aloe Vera lotion has just been spread thick on my back!

Great photos! love those roses. I agree, I'm not a fan of hot weather but I'm enjoying the sunshine. It's important not to get burnt though, so we all need to take care!
