Coarse Gardening

I am aching! Trying to clear an area of gravel, and relocate the gravel behind a square that was once a Barbeque paved area and is now a Potential Wildlife Garden with Pond.
Note the use of the word ‘Potential’!!!!
It will be wee while till I get it all done. Since the soil in the P.W.G. has been covered by slabs for years, it’s very clay-ey. It looks quite good soil though, and I was thinking of adding compost, sand, and bone meal.
I’m playing this pretty much by ear though!!
This is the P.W.G!!!! Very ‘Potential’ isn’t it!

Would look good with a pond running diagonally from the back corner with a little waterfall towards the front corner and planting on either side. If you do have a pond there will be lots of earth to use either side for planting and it won't look so flat.Do some sketches first to get ideas, I'm sure you'll get many more here tho. Very Potential ! :)

That soil doesn't look bad at all FP. Maybe it is just really compressed after years under slabs. I'm sure adding compost and sand will be good for it.
Looks like a great PWG. I"m lookiing forward to seeing your progress. Welcome to GOY.

You'll soon see that it's good soil. You watch the weeds start to grow now it's got the light on it! It is potential and I'll look forward to your future blogs /pics of the potential turning to something great and real!

Well ... it's raining today and it's just full of puddles. Not very tempting!

Oh how unlucky. The rest of the country has had lovely weather. Sorry, I won't rub it in!

I think a pond would look nice there.
