Tough cold times

I would like to Wish you all a belated “Happy New Year” and to apologise for my recent absence.
I have not been on GoY for a while now while concentrating on keeping the wolf away from the door. We have had little snow here (around 3") but the frosts here have been relentless, getting deeper into the soil as each day passes, even a polystyrene box plunged and protected with crate and fleece over it in a sheltered spot is now one lump of ice. Some plants were taken into an out-building but they are also rock hard. I also have concerns over the 4 treee planted for Tree o’clock and the 4 fruit trees I planted just a wee bit earlier. The sunshine does nothing to warm the air around them so I don’t hold out much hope at all for the spring.
Many of you I’m sure will have experienced this before and have ‘survived’ so when work allows, I will look back in on GoY to see how I should adjust and continue within the garden. Until then I will cross my fingers and wait for the thaw.
Take care and keep warm.
GF

I hope things will not be as bad as you think. It's surprising how tough some plants are.
