A chance to think silly.

After the rigours of trying to think my way through a week of decision making ( regarding kids, work, house maintenance, vehicle repairs, adder handling and of course the garden) a silly thing I heard decades ago popped into my head this morning for no apparent reason.
I thought I’d share this with you for no other reason but in the hope you will have more of this kind of nonsense to give us all a smile.
Don’t get to excited, its not that good!!

What is an ‘occasional’ table the rest of its time?

Garden fool, I'm with you. I never gave it a thought but now it will probably stick with me the rest of the day. lol. On one occasion I was running down the hall (wooden floor with scatter rugs the length) to get to the telephone, when I hit on a much waxed spot that sent me sliding down the hall out of control; as I tried to back pedal, the Three Stoogies came to mine and I started laughing even as I careened off the wall!! I only suffered a scrape or two - I think I was too relaxed from laughing to be seriously injured- but there I was in the middle of the hallway going,"ha ha, ouch tee hee ouch. Talk about silly!!lol

Gardengnome!!! I love your approach, laughing in the face of adversity, giggling at danger, chuckling as you career into the clutches of the great unknown, grasping at your own mortality and giving it a tickle!! Brilliant!

Me too Drc.

Here's another thats come to me,

Why do we say 'Tuna fish,
but not 'Plaice fish', 'Chicken bird' or Lamb sheep'?

And

Why is 'Abreviation' such a long word?

Why do Zippy, George and Bungle put on pyjamas to go to bed, yet go round naked the rest of the time? (old, I know!!)

12 Sep, 2009

tuna was unknown here so they put fish on the lable so the housewife of the day knew what she was buying. apparently.

12 Sep, 2009

So they did Spindle and I never noticed until now. I have to off load this its been going round my head all day An occassional table is for occassional use on those occasions when we need an occassional table?

12 Sep, 2009

Great one Spindle
Ummmmm, now you've got me thinking Drc, so does that mean....if its occassionally used on occasional occasions that it must be a 'very occasional' table...I think...or even 'rarely a table' (or even a 'chair'?)

12 Sep, 2009

Not necessarily, depends on the occassion garden fool.

12 Sep, 2009

I've always wondered that too, Gardenfool?

12 Sep, 2009

I guess we will leave this for someone else to 'table' the question on another 'occassion'.
I still will MP......occassionaly

Anyway.....why is 'Phonetic' not spelt how it sounds?

Interesting point about the tuna fish label does it date back as far as before most people could read do you think as canning is very old? I love fish but tuna I am not so keen on as it meaty!

13 Sep, 2009

Hence the need to let us know it was fish presumably:-) I, on the other hand, only like fish that is not fishy I also don't like eggs that taste eggy either. I know what I mean...my husband thinks I'm odd :-)

My son loves ketchup but wont put homemade tomato sauce on his food.

13 Sep, 2009

:-)

13 Sep, 2009

I can eat one particular brand of ketchup, but I'm allergic to tomatoes!

13 Sep, 2009

Anyway Gardenfool, whaddya mean a CHANCE to think silly??????? Its a way of life for some of us!

13 Sep, 2009

That I can understand Madperth I can drink orange juice but am allergic to oranges my mouth swells.

13 Sep, 2009

LOL! Love the way that appeared in the blog, D!

Sometimes when they are out of order it can be very confusing!

13 Sep, 2009

I thought it was funny!

13 Sep, 2009

I didn't notice anything out of order 8~)

Garden fool does a recliner chair recline when alone? and does a bed post need a stamp? May be we could furnish a house?

13 Sep, 2009

LMAO!! Still giggling at that!
How far does a sofa go?

13 Sep, 2009

that made me laugh. does the staircase need a step up?

13 Sep, 2009

If it is zero degrees outside today and it is supposed to be twice as cold tomorrow how cold will it be?

13 Sep, 2009

That one will keep me awake Madperth. goodnight all.

13 Sep, 2009

Goodnight!

13 Sep, 2009

Ummmm....I'll have to lie back and put my feet up to think about that Drc.
Perhaps a reclining chair would decline to recline if left alone.

Furnish the house:-

When is a door not a door......when its a jar

Why do we say TV 'set' when its only one.

How do we know if the fridge light really does go out when we close the door.

Why are there so many different variations of the 'standard' lamp?

G night

14 Sep, 2009

Why call it a book 'case' - you're not packing it for a holiday!

14 Sep, 2009

Lol ~

If it was to be 'twice' as cold tomorrow....would it be 'two' cold?

Bookcase.........to reserve the availability of a travel or storage container before the date of it intended use.

14 Sep, 2009

Well put that in the dictionary blog!

14 Sep, 2009

Ooooo I got my blogs mixed up!!!!

14 Sep, 2009

I see the house furnishing is coming along - does a rocking chair belong in a music room? When does a dressing table undress? and does a wardrobe unrobe? Is a Di van female?

14 Sep, 2009

Hehehe Drc,

Can a 'threshold' let go.

Can a walk in wardrobe run?

Can a running tap walk?

(why are there always curtain hooks in every kitchen drawer? not funny just fact).

A 'ceiling rose' in every room? how much lower were they before.

Would an attic be easier to access if it was kept in the basement.

No matter how nice we are to it, why do we always get the cold shoulder from our freezer

Why do we say our house is detached when it has never ever been attached.

If the door was left ajar, I wonder what it would do with it.
