"These plants sure make a statement."

Don't they half! 😂👍👏 👏 👏 This is a beautiful flower!

I don't have any yet with buds but I expect to see some around about Easter time.

I have one that looks very much like yours but I grew it from seed & it took 4 years before I saw the result!

WOW Balcony, I admire you growing them from seed.
I had few blooming at Christmas and hope they will re-bloom one day.

Thank you Anet.

mine usually bloom late April a year after they flowered at Christmas. They sit happily in the conservatory and need very little care.

Keep the leaves growing for as long as possible & fertilize the bulb. I fertilize mine with an all-round fertilizer from the first day of spring till the first day of summer. Then I change to a tomato or rose fertilizer till the first day of autumn when I stop feeding them. They are easy dates to remember & this regime of feeding them has given me good results for many years!

Amaryllis are hungry plants & if you don't feed them you will get very disappointing results! That's the "secret" to getting them to produce flowers as big as the first one you saw.

Thanks Balcony for your advice . I will follow up on it.

Just beautiful Klahanie, and what we need to see in winter.

There's a lot more advice on some of my earlier blogs when I wrote quite a bit about them if you are interested. Also anytime you want you can write to me on questions you might have on their cultivation! Whether by PM or an open post I will endeavour to answer you to the best of my knowledge or even look it up on the Internet if I don't know the answer.

One important thing though is NEVER to keep them in a saucer/plate of water. The roots will start to rot after just a few days & you may lose the bulb. They have very thick white roots which act as sponges & would prefer to be on the dry side than being left standing in water.
