The climbing jasmine in our porch.

Wow - how tall is that Chris? It's just that I bought one about three weeks back (it's gorgeous - and the scent!!!) which I've left in it's original pot until it stops flowering, then I'll pot up. A friend of mine at work said they grow better in a pot than in the garden - is this so? Ideally, I'd like it at the back door as I can smell it in the kitchen, so this would mean keeping it in a pot (but a lot bigger one than it's in now). Your advice would be appreciated, also how will it fair in the winter?

Ours WAS in a pot and we planted it in a small bed that is actually part of our porch. The porch is enclosed and is nearly all glass.
It survived the winter and has done really well. It is about 6 feet in height up to the flowers and there is another 2 feet of green growth. It has surprised us and seemed to love being free of its pot! It was a mild winter though wasn't it? It was just a hopeful experiment and it has worked so far!
We did plant one outside and lost it.

I've a small porch at the front of the house, maybe worth considering overwintering it in there, which I could do if it was left it a pot. Hum, have to think about it.
