Digging it up was really tough, compared to the other bananas, but putting it in the big tub and dragging it to its winter home was something else! I'm not sure if we can do it next year. Toooooo heavy!!!

Yes, the stems hold tons of water.
I'm harvesting my other bunch of bananas tomorrow. It's going to be quite a chore...I think all the bananas weigh about 100lbs.

Oh yes, you know very well!! Banana plants must consist largely of water, the same as cucumbers!!
Do you harvest bananas when they are still green? I remember a friend did so and waited until they were ripe, I don't know why.

I harvest all bananas when one banana is just slightly yellow. If they're allow to ripen on the stalk they tend to split.

Wow! That must be quite a chore to dig up. I just cut my old banana stalk down (because I harvested the bananas) and the stalk was very heavy.
