Ficus religiosa - Bodhi Tree, Sacred Fig

Ficus religiosa - Bodhi Tree, Sacred Fig (Ficus religiosa - Bodhi Tree, Sacred Fig)

A close up of the Sacred Fig leaves...they look very similar to Poplar leaves, although you can see the little figs along the branches. Photo taken Sept. 29, 2010.

Not very popular here in Phoenix, because they lose most or all of their leaves in the spring--the dryest season before the monsoons in their native India.

Tugbrethil:

Yes. I have one...it just lost its leaves 3 weeks ago. It regrew it leaves within a week.

They usually lose their leaves in March or April here, and regrow sometime in May. It seems like most people who live here came down from the north to avoid deciduous trees, though. As a native, I am often left scratching my head!

Tugbrethil:

Typically my little tree will lose its leaves between April and early June. It's, however, very briefly deciduous. This year was the first time I've ever seen it loose it leaves so late.
