This happens in Bath behind Pultney Bridge (the one with shops on) stuff collected from the banks for miles upstream. It's great to see big tree trunks shoot the weir.

In old times the poor (and Gypsies nowadays) were coming to banks of rivers to pick up that wood chips and use them for fire next winter. I do not know if it was habit also in the UK, but in Austrian-Hungarian monarchy it was the only legal way for poor how to harvest wood. I would modify the title as "Served on a tray by the power of nature" :)
