Show off. lol. I only get white butterflys in our garden and takes ages for them to find the Buddleia in the back. Usually get fed up looking nd go next door! lol. Mind you, i've trimmed down the staghorn to let more light on thw back and to get to my composter so hopefully they'll spot it now! lol

I think they do go off scent but they probably think someone is having a laugh with them when they come in mine!!
I can just imagine them saying "I can smell it but canny find it"
Well not no more! Just hope they find it before it totally finished!! lol
20 Jul, 2010
lol steve if you have sunshine there is a chance, its all rain here and in its second week ;o((
20 Jul, 2010
We've had nothing but sunshine but it couldn't get to it coz of staghorn. Hopefully it'll recover a little. Got 1 stem still going strong. Took a pic and will upload in a bit!

20 Jul, 2010
Yours is so more purple than mine!!
20 Jul, 2010
come in different shades steve and vaieties, i have two small ones to which are purples but shaded differently
21 Jul, 2010
Yes they got some more in my local today which are bigger and darker! Wasn't happy as they said there wasn't any due to come in! Grrrrr
21 Jul, 2010
how annoying steve were you tempted, i would have been, but doesnt take much for me to grab a plant haha
22 Jul, 2010
Yes I was tempted but declined as I could see the rolls of eyes from Gina! lol
Got a couple of hollyhocks instead but not a red or purple one which I love. The 2 I have are a real deep dark red (almost black) & a white and purple one. Pics coming up tomorrow when I've moved a few plants to put them in direct sun!
22 Jul, 2010
love hollyhocks steve, i had a beautifull double pink last year, not sure which i have this year lol i forget what i buy haha
22 Jul, 2010
Did it not come up again this year?
22 Jul, 2010
i took it out steve, dont ask me why lol, i just thought it looked awfull once flowers had gone and so tall and big, so out it came ;o(
22 Jul, 2010
Should cut it back to ground level after flowering so you wouldn't see it. lol
22 Jul, 2010
i know steve but i thought if its out i can have something else lol, im not good at waiting for things to die back and its a wasted space,
22 Jul, 2010
Just like me. lol. Not looking forward to my summer perrinals dying off and leaving great hole there!!
I said one of my hollyhocks was white and purple but its actually rose & peach. close!! lol
22 Jul, 2010
lol steve, when your perenials die back leave the dead foilage to protect the roots in winter, doesnt look good but stops them getting killed off, i do it and only lost one plant last winter ;o))
23 Jul, 2010
Missed this one San.......super pic...you can see all the eyes there....aren't they gorgeous!
23 Jul, 2010
thanx janey yes beautifull and biger than most to ;o)
23 Jul, 2010
Will do hun, thanks for that. Was going to leave all and cut back in Feb time ready for spring....is that right or not?
24 Jul, 2010
yes as long as last frost has gone, i wait to give new shoots time to form, depends on weather really,
24 Jul, 2010
Might be on your case around that time then! lol
24 Jul, 2010

W-O-W!!
What an amzing shot San! Had little or no BF's out here this year although I think I wasspoilt last year having 3 weeks off when Ali had that Swine Flu! Not had a good run out there for a while as I am always in work, it seems. Got a fortnight off in a couple of weeks so looking forward to at least a couple of days out there......weather permitting! Raining all day today so far.
3 Aug, 2010
thankyou so much Dan, sorry you havent had so many this year, heard a few say the same, glad to hear your having some time off, hope the weather is good for you and you both enjoy a break ;o))
4 Aug, 2010
Ali is only off for the first few days as we weren't going anywhere this year and she has kept some holiday days back for her craft fairs.
We are hoping to take Jac on a couple of days out though else he won't get anywhere in his summer hols as the kids don't drive and his dad is working so it be nice to take him a few places:o))
4 Aug, 2010
