Jem, this was hand made for my husbands retirement from the guys in the DT block @ the school he worked in. Sorry its a one off. My hub is a model engineer and builds live steam engines ! So this gift really pleased him.

Looking good and I like the signs on the wall (although I can only read one!). I like your row of pots on the window ledge too :)

Thanks Gee, I am a collector of all things pot/bottle wise and I just pop them round the garden. Stroller no one has seen the train yet as it has not been out side for that long but thanks.

It looks nice now. What about the funnel lol

I have a white fushia standing by Hywel but because pot is small it needs lots of water, so I stand it in a tray to get a good drink!!

It should look nice - like steam. I remember we used to stand on an old bridge when the trains went by and got engulfed in it lol.

Yes Hywel, like steam, thats why we chose white !! Hope it works! We are steam train nuts and always go where there is asteam train, my fave being the North Yorkshire moors railway its so beautiful, we hang out the windows and get sooty faces !!!

lol !

My dad was a railroad engineer and trains always get my eye. It's a lovely retirement gift for your hubby.....how successful have you been now that summer is disappearing....did your plants grow well since this photo was taken?

Well W.lass, i cannot upload any pics. at the moment as I am working on an old steam computer !! But the train was a slight dissapointment because I purchased twelve begonias and only three flowered, however they were beautiful but it was not enough to fill the carriages. The geraniums were lovely, they are so loyal aren't they? I put Lewisia in one carriage and although they were pretty they were too small!! I put strwaberries in another and they were over too soon, so all in all I have to re-think and try a different tack next year ! Lol. Nothing in a garden quite grows how you expect does it?? Thanks for asking W.Lass and by next summer we will have a better computer I hope and then I can post some nicer photos!!

The geraniums look very healthy....but often it is experimentation in containers, I suppose. Hope next year you have some new inspiration and get a nice show of flowers in your train (with all the carriages in bloom).

Yes I hope so too, thank you. I will have to have some expert advise from here as to what is best to plant, it's like a hanging basket really, but there were four carriages! Thanks W.lass

What a wonderful gift for your husband's retirement and how thoughtful of his colleagues; he must have been held in high esteam - spot the deliberate mistake! My train-enthusiast husband thinks it's brilliant. I've just found this from reading Mark's blog.

Tbear, thank you! As he worked in the DT. dept. making toys and allsorts with the children I think they missed him terribly, he was such fun a bit of a joker and also a huge train-enthusiast like your hubby! Although this was a complete suprise he was really touched. You might like to show your hubb, one of my blogs about the steam train my hubb. is building, 'thirty years in the making' !

Will definitely look for that!
