A garden flower photo

The main gate I made out of green oak as I was quoted £200 for a pine one, it cost me £90 the iron one is very interesting , hand made and very old indeed. It's VERY heavy and beautifully designed even the washers under the rivets are flower shaped.

Thats a lovely gate Heron goes well with the cottage, the design seems to echo the fence? clever old you.

The design is influenced by a certain little dog who thinks he's Houdini. The other gate has wire between the bars. One day when he was a puppy he crawled under it and marched down the centre of the lane. Mortified I ran after him as a coach load of ladies approached. The driver stopped phew! got out and tried to catch him. them another coach came from the opposite direction, I ran towards it frantically waving my arms. The driver stopped just feet from me. Barnaby was having a ball running back and fro. Breathless I tried and failed to catch him. Then all the Women from both coaches joined in. By this time there was a traffic jam, never been seen on the lane before. Realising that he was outnumbered Barnaby casually trotted into the the garden. I had been painting and was wearing a holy vest that would make 'Onslow' look tatty and had to receive a congratulatory clapping of hands from all the Ladies. I immediately altered the gate.

Thanks Labdancer, I was brought up to do things for myself, had to help Dad with jobs, used to grumble a bit then but now I'm so glad.
