Lovely photo - do you hypnotise them so that they stay still for you, Toto?

Wow! Could it get any more crisp! I think that it's a butterfly called a 'skipper'. May be one called 'Fiery'. Check out this site, lots of amazing butterfly photos:

I don't think so Tastey. This is definitely a moth but I can see your logic.

Toto- I'm not usually one to argue unless I'm absolutely positive... but I'm almost positive that this is a Skipper butterfly. There are more than 3500 different species of skipper butterflies, so I'm not sure which on this is. Check out these links and tell me what you think?

Oh! Then there's this one that makes us both right! :)

Did/do you study insects? You seem to know a lot about them?

Superb detail here........

Again I have to thank everyone for their nice comments and Tasty, I think your right. I haven't managed to narrow it down much but I have to agree that you are right and it is one of the Skipper butterflies and not a moth as I falsley claimed. You should definitely argue when you believe you are right as we all learn by checking again and having our minds changed. Thanks for your help.

To tell the truth Toto I always thought that these were moths as well, until I tried to idientify it to post a picture on here. Glad to be helpful :)
