Thank you Kas. I designed my garden but all landscaping and path were done by a company. As I remembers there was no concrete base.

My soil is very sticky clay so I am doing my best to put shrubs which can survive in waterlogged and clay soil. I cannot grow any summer flowers in my soil:( I plant summer flowers in planters.

I have clay soil too and it's such hard work. I was going to try adding manure to see if it would help break it up a bit! I'm glad you said there was no concrete base as that 'a what I had planned but doubted myself if bricks were treated the same as paving slabs. Many thanks.

What a lovely garden. I'm currently trying to put a path up the sides, similar to yours. Can I ask how it was laid? Did you have to concrete a base first to keep small bricks together? And did you make the borders a different size towards the end of the garden?
