Summer Sunbow

I had no idea there was such a thing....great picture...when are the northern lights more evident? (what time of the year?)

Sure looks cold to me!..it is beautiful GT...I was woke up by my tv last night...some one on CSI was saying ..well we have found "GreenThumb"...I thought they were talking about you! Time to turn off the tv and go to bed for sure...!

Skippy, the lights are seen from aug to april, as long as there is a night sky. I haven't caught them on digital though, on film it takes long expoures. I'll keep trying. Really a sight!
CF, it is spring here and the temps are above freezing. The snow just takes a while to melt. There are probably buds on the trees. Funny story too, I'm glad not to be the greenthumb they caught on CSI! Whew!

Marguerite has found the exact word - spectacular! I too have never heard of sunbows and shall look them up.

Sunbow is my choice of words, sundog it is called classically, but I think that sounds strange. Might get a better search from sundog. We get alot here, it results from ice crystal in the atmosphere, usually cirrus cloud, though I've seen it in a clear sky. Here it means storm coming to most people, doesn't always happen though.
