Yes - it's right by the path to the front door, so I pass it every day. :-)

Awwww..... thanks, Yorkshire! :-)

Same day seeing your lovely photo my local garden centre had half price Agapanthus plants to clear stock...I treated myself and look forward to similar beautiful flowers next year myself.

Well done - great to get a bargain! I was at a Flower Show yesterday where there were so many different forms and colours of Agapanthus - did you know you can get a purple one, and a blue and white one?

Isn't this gorgeous! We used to have blue and white Agas but they never looked as good as this :o)

I really had to restrain myself from buying a purple one and a bi-coloured plant, Pip! They were quite expensive, though. :-(

What??? Agas? Over here they are a weed. We would pay you to get rid of them for us!

Oooh...how lovely! :-)))

It's the same with freesias. Several people on this site are astonished when I tell them how the council eradicate these pests from all the local bushland! They are so pretty!
12 Aug, 2010
Good grief! They're tricky to grow here.
12 Aug, 2010
omg not weeds at all . my god
12 Aug, 2010
A small bunch from the florist's costs a fortune, too!
12 Aug, 2010
You'll have to send some of your "weeds" over here! I've grown Freesias but never Agapanthus, though I would love to.
When I lived in Spain on all the waste land you would find a thistle with white veining in the leaves that is considered a choice plant it the UK! I can't remember what it is called but I often remembered that when I came across the 2m high plants on waste land.
One man's weed is another man's rose!

I love agapanthus but have had various success with my plant in a pot. First year - flowers. Second year repotted - no flowers. Third year - flowers. This year repotted - so crammed the roots were coming out the top - no flowers. I presume next year it will flower - fingers crossed!

Apparently, they actually like being cramped up in a pot, Cammomile! My very elderly neighbour has one of those beautiful old stone troughs - the Agapanthus haven't been touched or fed for years, but they flower every year. Amazing, isn't it!
12 Aug, 2010
I wish I could send you all freesias... but they are not in flower yet ;o)
12 Aug, 2010
We'd like a nice photo, or even a blog on them once they're in flower, please Pip! :-)))
13 Aug, 2010
Will do, Spritz! You shouldn't have long to wait, they start appearing in about Sept., Oct.
16 Aug, 2010
