blue poppy

I grew this blue poppy for the first time this year, I was really pleased by the flowers, but disappointed that they did not flower for long and there were no flowers after the first ones faded

Its very pretty! I trying to grow them from seeds but no signs of any sprouting yet!

i love those! i sowed some this year but i know they wont flower till next year ~ however, they havent come up at all ~ thanks islander ~ is it too late to put them in the fridge now or will the winter cold do that instead?
my sister then bought me a plant for my birthday ~ so hopefully i will get at least one in flower next year???
do they flower so briefly in the himalayas?

That does look like a particularly large example!

i dont know whether putting in the fridge at this time of the year would be any good .but if you tend to get frost in your area maybe standing a pot with seeds shallowly sown outside over winter may do the trick. i had several goes at growing them befor I eventually had my success. hope yours do well sticki.

I didn't either Jaque, the size of it surprised me too. but i did read somewhere that the flowers are not so good in the second year so will have to wait and see
