Village Maid

dwyllis

By Dwyllis

Village Maid

This is the second of three lovely roses I ordered from an online NZ rose nursery today. It's a Centifolia rose also sometimes known as La Rubanee. One of the older roses from 1845. Fragrant. Will grow to 1.5 mtrs.

Looks very like a David Austin type rose Dwyllis. It probably is scented too as its an old fashioned type. -mmmmnnn.

It's quite lovely, isn't it? A bit similar to Dentelle de Malines (my OH politely pointed that out as I was showing him what I had ordered), but I simply could not resist either of them. I have a long wish list of roses, as they are my favourite. I am sure this one is fragrant, as my OH is always keen on that. I love David Austin's roses & used to grow them when I lived in England. Will certainly be putting a few of his in & also I will definitely be putting in at least a couple of the moss roses, as I love that look of moss growing up the stems. There are just so many incredibly beautiful roses to choose from & roses do very well here in NZ.
