My only worry is...how long do wisterias live? This one could already be 30 years plus...
...not that it's showing any signs of slowing down, lol!!!

It looks very healthy Karen, I've seen some really woody ones obviously very old but performing very well....You could google info on looking after a Wisteria..it might help you...

It certainly is healthy, Sue...when I first set to the garden last year, I found these lateral roots just below the soil, which circled the garden - several times in each direction!
Another year or two and the house would have disappeared into the vines, like something from a fairytale! lol!
I still have to prune it at root level, at least twice a month...was thinking about putting on a question about discouraging that sort of growth...

Can't say I've ever heard of that...Google would probably have the answer to that question....

Ha!...it is just finishing its third flush of the year, M...we've had some weird weather this year!...strange but the blooms which come through the pergola are much longer than the others! :)))

Third flush? Mine only managed 1 and a quarter!!! :-)

Well...we have had some weird weather patterns, this year, M...my garden has had three Springs...so far...!lol!......most confusing for plants and people.....lol!!!

No, missed it, J...what with the hour's time difference I don't really watch much telly! lol!
We're really lucky here, wisterias love it and are a doddle to grow...You could possibly describe this one as a standard (...gone mad! lol!)...It has one central trunk...then the top is trained along the fence and up onto the pergola :)))

Thank you, Meadowland. It's doing really well, that old wisteria!
