Me too Meanie, have just bought Stellata, as it is a fairly small and slow growing one.....

I once had a friend who had a stellata growing right in front of her front door, in the ground. It was sort of semi bonsai...it was lovely!

Thank you all. :-)) I love the magnolia. I tried to grow a stellata when we first got here, but it didn't thrive - it died. :-((
In Bridgwater there are several stellatas which are as tall as the eaves of the houses! I was amazed when I first saw them. I thought stellatas were smallish shrubs - not in those gardens they're not!

Really, that tall?.....not that I mind, because where it is, it will have plenty of room to grow.

I haven't come across any as tall as them anywhere else, so I can't understand it.

Thanks - they're still just about OK, but the wind has blown some of the magnolia petals off. :-(
