It's a sad tale Ray .. :o) they sat on the nest for 19 days the next day they were both out on the lawn , I grabbed my camera hoping to see the young ones , hubby had beaten me to it , the nest was empty ! the day before I had seen a young rat climbing the rose stem leading to their house and a family of rats under and on top of the bird feeder we can only guess that the rats had the eggs ... . .. Snowball tried to coax Snowdrop back to the box but she wouldn't go , they eventually flew off , Snowball came back to visit for the first time this morning , he was very hungry ... ... we are calling in the rat man as they are coming from under the fence at the bottom of the garden where they have chickens .... .. :o(

So sorry to hear this Amy....we had rats a couple of years ago.Not everybody can deal with them like we did but as we live near woods we got some humane traps and caught and released them.Luckily not had them back..though we are careful about not leaving food out overnight...not much chance anyway here...the young starlings are out in force !! Lol

I reported them to the council once before Ray , they said there was nothing they could do as they didn't live here and were only passing through , how strange is that ..... the other garden that backs on to us next to the chickens is very overgrown we have been told to a mum and her two children who rent it , it's a worry because I can hear these children playing in the grass I'm not sure whether I should go and tell the mum as they could pick up weals disease or something ..... you are lucky you haven't had yours back they obviously prefer the open fields .... . I have had to stop feeding the birds near the area and put a pot where I can see it and like you take it in at night ....
