Thanks ladies ! Every spring I keep packing the little beauties I can't resist buying in there, even though I know how it going to get by the fall...lol

OOOOOoooo wild passion vine, huh? lol... that looks just amazing, Flcrazy.. next season that tropical bed is going to look as abundant as this does!!

Thanks Lori, and I appreciate your confidence where my tropical bed is concerned. I have to admit, you're alot more confident about it than I am right now....lol.

Oh my goodness, Flcrazy!. I'm just waiting til you retire...with all the extra time on your hands you are going to have a botanical garden!! They'll have to build a new off ramp on the freeway, just to handle the traffic. "If you build it ...they will come!!"

Haahaha... Lori, I wish....lol. You're filling my head with such sweet thoughts ! I'm afraid by the time I retire, my back will be past it's exspiration date ! My only hope will be bionic parts....lol. That's only if my mind is still in tack and I can remember why I need the bionic parts in the first place. It's not looking to good for me, is it ?!.....

We can rebuild you...we have the technology!....lol. I'm hoping for the same kind of renewal... I had great plans for this past season...and by the time August rolled around I was out of steam! Just got the digging done in time...You should see the size of the calla corms! like grapefruit! (not kidding) fish are back in the aq...and I've fired up the lights...have a new bloom spike on my miniature Phalaenopsis! How's the musa? Have you had a heavy frost yet?
9 Nov, 2008
Wow Lori, you have so much more to dig up than I do, I feel for you and for your back too ! Glad to hear you got it all done in time, we had our killing frost the last week of October this year, we had a light frost the week before, with no damage. I dug up the blood bananas and the ensete banana and they are in my sister in laws basement. My musa basjoo decided to bloom in late October, so It will die. Now I don't have any to wrap up with plastic and stuff with leaves this year. I'm already living on easy street...lol Can't wait to see your Orchid in bloom, something I've never had any luck with., so I 'll just lust after yours...lol.

Well at least it bloomed just Before not after you laboured to remove it to storage... sad that they just up and die after flowering...I should send you an orchid for your windowsill...

That's such a sweet thought Lori, but I'm afraid I'd just kill it. Never had much luck with houseplants. It's funny, if it grows inside, I can kill it quicker than you can say Abra-Ka-Dabra ....lol. It's a good thing there is more than one place to grow plants, or I'd be on a different website every night with a totally different hobby, if you could only grow plants indoors..lol

~i'm like that with orcihds too unfortunately!~
10 Nov, 2008
LOL...I'm like that with everything Arlene. I'm hopeless with houseplants...
10 Nov, 2008
Hmmm....here's a challenge...find a houseplant that Flcrazy can't kill...I still think you would be surprised by orchids, not as picky as you might think. also just saw a post of Chinese Evergreen (agleonema) they're lovely(you could plant them outside in your tropical bed for the summer), and spathyphyllum is very stately and has sweet scented blooms..(could also spend the summer outside) ....if you have an east window space available find some miniature saintpaulias... they're super easy to care for and reward you with the prettiest blossoms!
We just have to find you the right plant!

I'll have to look all these up Lori, I don't recognize any of the names....lol. It's becoming more obvious I don't grow houseplants ! I can keep an aloe plant and mother in laws tongue plant alive...hurray ! I don't think a bomb could kill them....lol But that's about as good as it gets.
