What a lovely photo Daisy. I think these look much nicer close up than they do in the garden!

Beautiful....I was really looking forward to seeing mine in flower again, then something ate it from below the soil....I've a feeling they're something to do with the carrot family and it may have been the carrot-fly beetle....:o((

Oh no, Janey! It couldn't be vine weevil, could it?

1 Apr, 2011

Yes, maybe Spritz......it was in a tub, everything else in there is fine though.

Janey... from an internet entry on Erysimum linifolium Variegatum ..

"As with any member of the brassicaceae family, clubroot may be a problem."

Could that be it... ? ... which would presumably not kill the other plants in the tub ?

TT that is correct we had club root many years ago with Bowles Mauve.
Spritz we have found at least 10 vine weevil all dead, but, obviously laid their eggs in the compost, and this is inside!! we are overwintering 90 pots, so they could be anywhere, I was wondering if it was the compost we used? have never had any problems in the past, OH believes the compost is sterilised so it could not happen.

Could the weevil/eggs be in the pots before you put in the compost ?

2 Apr, 2011

TT you could be right, we have started washing the pots now, never bothered before. Looked for a drench at the GC but they wanted £11.00 !!!

Careful pot washing is very time consuming ...
... I've sometimes done that for hours on end ...
but, I guess it is much better to wash than to make homes for the mean pesky weevils :o(((
