Oh dear. You've got a lovely lot of colour there still, Dawn - looks beautiful.

What do you mean Dawn has it flowered at the wrong time ??

Oh what a shame, is that a frost I see already? Yuccas are hardy though are they not Dawn?

20 Oct, 2010

Fingers crossed it will be ok for you .

Thanks Gee.
Hi Margaret, this yucca has never flowered for me before and was so surprised when it sent this bloom up last month, normally they flower in the Summer.
Dotty, we've had frosts for the last 2 mornings, like you say, yuccas are very hardy but do you think the flower will be?

I really do not know, sorry, have only just put a Yucca in the garden, normally keep it in a pot.....

Well Dotty, it still seems OK today, we'll see. It's its own fault, it should have flowered in summer, lol.

Ha ha Amy. Thanks Margaret - at the back there, well the yellow leaves are goats willow trees and the reds in front are acers and a there's also a dog wood to the left.

Hi Margaret, just a type of willow tree. Nothing spectacular but nice autumn colour to the leaves. They do spread they're fluffly seed heads though :-( Usually in my seed trays, lol.

That's a lovely yucca flower Dawnsaunt!

Hi Karen, it didnt make it sadly, persistent frosts ended it, just a brown spike now, lol.

20 Dec, 2010

Yes, well, I thought that would have happened. Still, you had it to enjoy for a short time! Bloomin weather eh? I'm fed up with it!

20 Dec, 2010

I'm the same Karen, sick to the teeth and beginning to worry what damage has been done, last Winter was bad enough and this one is beginning to look the same.

20 Dec, 2010

Yes, much worse here than last year Dawnsaunt. I am worried as it came on SO fast I didn't have enough warning to wrap up pots or anything. I did manage to get the greenhouse bubblewrapped, which is helping, but all the plants are under a thick layer of ice with another thick layer of snow above that.....terrible, absolutely terrible. Oh well...sigh......Happy Christmas!!

20 Dec, 2010

Same here Karen, Autumn one min. & snow the next. Like you, I did get the greenhouse bubblewrapped but plants in there are still frosted. Dreading seeing what I've lost yet again.
