Oh, excellent. Haven't seen Indian Summer locally. Now you've managed to get a var. Trachelospermum, maybe my cuttings will root at last!!

Andrew it is surprising how many plants there are in this garden, we have removed/lost several over the years though, and constantly lifting canopies to squeeze in more.....
Karen I know ......still a few more spaces left yet!
Siris we were lucky that one of our favourite nurseries had a couple left....and very chuffed to find the trachelospernum.....?

Given a sunny spot, space & your sheltered garden it will be terrific, DD.

Dotty
If you have a greenhouse I would keep over winter plant out when all frost are over .... IT WILL ESTABLISH QUICKER

Gg we don't have a greenhouse, only an unheated porch, and conservatory...or outside in a sheltered position, kept in the container..
Greenfinger I like your confidence in us, out of several Alstroemerias we only have two left!! so I am not counting my chickens!

Indian summer has survived in my Midlands garden last two years gorgeous plant, although seeing everyone's still in flower I'm bit jealous mine finished earlier than last year about mid August, but last year was still flowering September.

Hi Day lily havnt seen you for ages
I think it needs to be fed regularly as considering it produces so many flowering stems .... mine still in flower and its nearly November , I use tomato food

I lost mine this winter (wrong spot I'm guessing) Sarah Raven has them in the sale, 2 litre pot, half price £7.25.
28 Oct, 2017
Hi Gg nice too see you, yes I think I need to do my deadheading/pulling of old stems more frequently too but didn't feed it much really, hope it's as good next year ?

The slugs/snails here consider some alstroemerias very tasty. I haven't worked out yet why they eat some and leave others untouched. 'Indian Summer' was one of their favourites :-(
28 Oct, 2017
Oh dear Andrew! Maybe they got mine then. Meanie commented the other day they can be too vigorous, strange.
28 Oct, 2017
Daylily that is good to know it is hardy in the Midlands....
Oh dear Andrew! I don't want to hear that, we do have trouble with slugs/snails....
I shall certainly be feeding ours then GG!!
Dawn we paid 12.00 for a 3litre plant, it is now flowering it's head off, in our car! ready for home! will you buy one from Sarah Raven?
28 Oct, 2017
Yes DD I've ordered 2. They are happy in pots apparently so i can have one in the ground and one in a pot!
28 Oct, 2017
I've got 'Golden Delight' and 'Aimi' which they haven't touched, but 'Indian Summer' and 'Little Miss Jessica' were eaten. Perhaps they only go for the expensive ones!
28 Oct, 2017
Andrew, maybe your slugs are particularly fussy ones, lol.
According to my notes they 'tolerate several degrees of frost'. (that's Indian Summer not the slugs)
29 Oct, 2017
They certainly had a nibble but not too bad they prefer my kniphofia stems Grrrr :-/
29 Oct, 2017
HB no certainly not that radical lol!! we have been looking after our daughters house and dog.....
31 Oct, 2017
Dotty, I thought you'd got yourself a dog too lol. So no pizza oven or dog, phew. :-)
31 Oct, 2017
