Lady Fern: Athyrium filix-femina

Lady Fern: Athyrium filix-femina (Athyrium filix-femina (Lady fern))

We are mostly Ostrich fern or Alaska fern Matteuccia struthiopteris in the interior if any fern. The lady fern is more full and more beautifully shaped I think. This is found in profusion throughout Southcentral and Southeast Alaska.

Nice looking fern and it is certainly healthier & fuller looking than my lady fern, which is sorta scraggly even after 3 years. It's never really done well. I wonder if it's one of those plants that prefers it cold?

TY. Most of our natives prefer a chill in winter so I would';t be surprised about that Lauram. The angle of the earth towards the sun from here doubles the atmosphere so we get little red and blue spectrum light, just the light for a fern to flourish. That may be a second factor to the size and beauty of these here.
