I also found them growing under big shady trees growing elsewhere in the gardens but because of the shade I wasn't able to take any pictures. :-(( I don't have a flash on my phone's camera.

Not even the spring ones have foliage when they flower. But you can see why they were called "Naked Ladies" by the Victorians! (Though not in this particular photo). They would naturally grow amongst the grass I imagine in the places were they come from originally.
