Dottydaisy2:
There's thousands of Euphorbia species. Most are native to the tropics/subtropics. Most of the ones grown here are succulents like: E. tirucallii, trigona, ingens, ammak, grantii, milii, continifolia, and lactea.

Delonix I am going to have to look all of those up, as I have not heard of any of them!!

Many of the species above grow very large. They are succulent trees.
Here's a few of my Euphorbia pics:

I do like the colour of this one Dd...one to look out for! When would you eventually remove the flower stem? I pruned my last autumn ones off this summer, and the plant doesn't look half as healthy now...:((

Janey I looked it up and it said to take off as soon as it had finished flowering, so I did.
I did my beautiful Ascot Rainbow, and it has taken ages to recover, but it now looks as good as ever, phew!!
Delonix I am on to it....

Oh thanks for that Dd, the flowers seem to go on forever don't they, I'm hoping mine will pick up before winter.

Apparently they can get leggy, so I will cut them back after flowering, will have to suck it and see with this one!!

I like that! :>)
It looks like it would do well in San Diego's dry climate.
