Hydrangea quercifolia 'Snowflake' - 2011

Thats really fab..love the pure white against the zingy green of the unopened buds. A very eyecatching plant.

The one criticism I have of this plant is the stems aren't sturdy enough to support the flowers. In wet seasons they spoil on the ground

Tetrarch - feeding doesn't seem to have made much difference. Sometimes I tie the branches to a small bamboo cane pushed in at an angle but it's yet another garden job I don't get round to :-(

I have a few roses that tend to droop on weak stems..you should hear me lecture them on not having time to coddle them. I tell them they get fed and watered, sprayed and weeded..couldnt they just hold their heads up??? LOL!

Lovely! Pretty contrast - the white against the dark leaves. How tall does it grow, Andrew? How long does it flower for (thinking of adding it to my Wish List!).

Sheila - the book says six feet high by eight wide; I'd say mine was about half that size and it's ten years old now. Like all hydrangeas, I leave the old flowers on and tidy the plant in spring

That is my favorite flower of all H. quercifolia but you're right about the stems not being strong enough!
