also Syn.Ismene Festulis, i did a trial regarding these this year, bought some from various places, supermarket packet, poundland,garden centre planted in different ways to see what is best.....
The findings..... size matters of course... i mean bulb size , also the best way is to grow like an amaryllis with the neck out of the compost.....

Thanks Sticki, the best was a packet of three from garden centre and was £5 which was higest price but worth it...

Size is certainly everything with them, as I discovered last year.
My two main bulbs are 75/80mm in diameter - it only took about six weeks from setting the bulb to bloom with the first one, and have just set the second large bulb.

I had some of these one year ,I can't remember how I planted them or even if they are still in a pot somewhere , I think they are stunning ! I will remember your planting advice for another time Slad, thanks ;o)

Thanks Everyone, i do like these...
Meanie, the ones i had that didn't flower which was most were between 40 - 55 mm these ones that have flowered are 70mm so i guess that's the magic number 70+ is needed to flower ...
