They are gorgeous Lori, so frilly! I've decided to dig mine out, there's not enough space or sunshine for them, so they're off to a friends who has a huge south facing garden, I'm sure they'll be as cheery as yours then...:))

Thanks ladies! I've never seen an iris like this one. it is sturdy, hardy and it isn't hard to look at, either! I'm trying to naturalize the area at the stream bend and have some yellow water iris to add to my list too. big hopes for next spring.
Learning to like things that work well for me has been a process for me too, Janey. Sometimes I find it hard to plant things I love, knowing that they probably won't work here. I've done it anyway.... a number of times. I have an Iris "Midnight Revelry" that I just love...I've moved it twice and each time it does worse than the time before... the concern is that it won't survive the winter. running out of spots for it.

That's interesting, Sandra. could it be that they don't get enough cold weather?

i hadnt thought of that option..i think it is more likely to be swamped by weeds so no sunlight to the roots.

They remind me of a troupe of walzing dancers! Lovely big blooms.
