Jacaranda mimosifolia - Jacaranda Tree Flowering

Jacaranda mimosifolia - Jacaranda Tree Flowering (Jacaranda mimosifolia - Jacaranda Tree)

The Jacarandas have been amazing this year. They have been flowering all spring and summer. This is unusual. They usually only bloom in spring to very early summer, starting in mid-March. This Jacaranda is growing among dozens of others in a shopping center by my house. Photo taken Aug. 9, 2012.

I don't think it'll grow in the UK. It's a tender subtropical tree. There's millions Jacarandas growing in San Diego. It's very widely grown as a street tree.

Sorry to hear about your Jacaranda! The millions of trees here bloom very well every year. It's such a beloved, common tree here.

LOL...I love Jacarandas!! The foliage..the flowers...it's all so beautiful.

You would love it in San Diego, then. :>)

The Jacarandas are blooming very strangely this year. I've seen many blooming through most of summer...and many other Jacarandas which bloomed in early spring are starting they're second late summer blooms (which are not as spectacular as the spring bloom).

There's most likely three dozen or more Jacarandas at this shopping center lot. Many are still blooming (which I've never seen before).

Are they watered with a sprinkler system, D1? What I mean is... perhaps they don't have to conform to the natural patterns of moisture and drought in the environs? The seedlings I started in my other garden were strong little survivors..but my timing was all wrong. winter and moving...alas. Not that they weren't doomed from the beginning. If I had a conservatory I would try again.

Some of the Jacaranda trees are watered and others just have to grow on what little rain we get here. This little tree doesn't get much water...it's most likely why it's so small.

Yes, you can always try growing more Jacarandas. They germinate very easily and quickly.
