It's weird! Are those fruits heavy? They remind me of a butternut squash, but I wouldn't want to get hit by one if it fell off!

Terratoonie:

Stickitoffee:

Yes, the sausage-like fruits are pretty heavy, as they can get to more than 2ft/61cm long.

Terratoonie:

Yes, there will be many more trips to the San Diego Zoo, this winter.

This past summer I hardly went...it was so, so crowded with tourist. I usually like to go in later fall, winter and early spring, when there's not too many tourist around. Although, it's starting to get really crowded in all seasons.

I guess the zoo visitors are learning that the trees and shrubs can be as much of an attraction as the animals and birds !

Terratoonie:

The San Diego Zoo is a world-class botanical garden. The plants are insured to more than the animals.

Some of the tropical plants growing at the SD Zoo can only grow in south Florida and Hawaii...and not anywhere else in the U.S.

Delonix1-
Hi- I am in Santa Monica California and am trying to get my hands on some Kigelia Fruit. Do you know of a tree closer by, or could I ask you to send me some? Thanks for any help you can provide. Kind regards-
