Time to get the beer traps out Dotty!

24 Feb, 2011

could you pop a dome over it untill it gets going Dotty

Karen the beer does not work for me....I drink it before it gets to the garden!! San I have put some blue you know what down, that should deter them.

Yours looks good enough to eat, Daisy so I'm not surprised the slugs go for it. Mine finish up like lace curtains every year - I'll have to resort to the blue things under a slate this year.

What a shame ... someone told me that if you put used empty grapefruit shells down the slugs will go into those and then you dispose of them , I haven't tried it !

a couple of large toads will help Dotty :o)

Wagger nice to see you back how are things with you?
Amy I might just try that I dont like using the pellets.
San would love a toad in the garden, we now have a small pond, well it is a barrel, but it keeps making the water smell so will have to line it or paint it with waterproof paint......not sure.

Feeling much better, thank you Daisy - snowdrops help to lift the spirits, as does seed germination.

Dotty when i had my barrel it was coated with tar, which helped but it will smell if it doesnt get to circulate, a small fountain would help to keep it fresh, toads love boggy areas not that bothered about being in water, frogs love the water Dotty.

Wagger pleased to hear your feeling better, have missed your comic comments lol
San have been out today and bought a fountain/pump....the guy said we could put some goldfish in it, he has one and has three fish in his, only small of course, have ordered some plants a water lily and marginals etc so now looking forward to planting it up.

thats great Dotty, my fish go under some rocks in my pond in winter, must be a bit warmer down there for them with it not being deep and some plastic drain piping to is a good idea.

Will try and remember that advice about the drain pipe. We will take delivery of the pond plants in April just had an email.
