Thanks Yorkshire!
I wasn't sure that I wanted a yellow one really, but thankfully I really like it. It's more of a yellow based orange really!

On my favourites too, it is just amazingly beautiful. It's like a pure tongue of fire in the clear sky.

Thanks chaps!
It's said to make a good indoor plant too.
Sticki - I had to wait ages for that clear bit of sky!!

well it was well worth it and i for one appreciate it!! its like an exotic bird, i dont think i have ever seen anything like it.

10 Jun, 2011

Yes- initially I too thought this was a pic of two stunning birds when I saw the thumbnail....! How long is the flowering period & are you in the UK??

10 Jun, 2011

I guess that its common name, Parrots Beak, is quite apt.

Begoniamatt - I'm in Oxfordshire. It should flower all summer, although it does need a good summer to fulfil it's potential. Grown indoors they're perennials and can become quite a specimen over a few years, so I'm giving one a go in the conservatory. Each flower lasts about a week.

Parrots beak is a great name! You're up early!

I think the Porsche came with the last visit - I noticed that the Range Rover is a year old now so that must be due for replacement!

12 Jun, 2011

just one more scale and polish and you should see the new 2011 version in the private parking space!!

12 Jun, 2011

The new bridge that I'm having should be enough for a couple !!

12 Jun, 2011

Meanie:

Great photo!

It's so funny to see everyone get so excited about this plant. We pretty much take these plants for granted here...because they are so commonly planted everywhere. lol! :>)

There's a fuchsia-colored flowering variety, also (I think it's relatively new here).

17 Jun, 2011

Thanks Delonix!
Ideal plant over there as it requires about six hours of direct sunlight to perform best. I'm trying one in the conservatory too, as they can make quite a specimen.
I have the red one that you're talking about too I think - it has much finer foliage. And in my case, no sign of flowers either yet......

17 Jun, 2011

Meanie:

The fucshia-colored one is NOT the red one (it's a pretty new variety - as far as I know). The red, orange and yellow varieties are very commonly grown and available for sale here.

17 Jun, 2011

OK - you need to get us a photo now!!!

18 Jun, 2011

Meanie:

In the next week or so I'll post some pics.
