That is so pretty. I bought a pink poppy this year but it didn't flower...hopefully next year! Meconopsis Napaulensis...is that what this is Scottish?

Thanks for liking Brian - I used to have the blue ones but I suspect they were the ones which died after flowering.
When I used deliver the post an elderly customer had a garden full of the blue meconopsis which flowered beautifully every year - what a sight it was!!
It is pretty Karen - very delicate, like tissue paper. I hope you get your flowers next year. I'm making a trough from a polystyrene fish box for these. It's a work in progress and so far am very very pleased with the look - will get paint needed at weekend. That's going to be the hardest part - getting it to look like stone. Watch this space!!

If you are going to use masonry paint, buy a textured one it looks a bit more natural.
I also used a small amount dark brown Acrylic paint in tubes which I use for painting just worked a bit into the main colour with a small brush while still wet it broke up the plain colour and mixed easily.
Also read but have not tried adding fine peat to the masonry paint this was then rubbed gently over in places with fine sandpaper when dry to expose the peat it then quickly weathers.

Thanks Brian I'll see if I can source some peat while I'm at it. Would you use PVA as a primer coat. I've been reading up and have saw no mention except if making a Tufa moulding.

The PVA would do no harm but did not use it myself.

It's gorgeous, the surprise for me is that it is flowering this late in the year.
Just googled it and it says May flowering as I imagined,
so flowering on seedling plant I guess, this happens with lots of plants so look forward to some more flowers in May.
I did buy the red one some years ago from the bearded guy(Senior moment) just up the road from Edrom nurseries but it was not suited to my set up then.
Its only in the last few years I have found a spot to grow the Blue Meconopsis.
Thanks for posting
B
