Ours is finally making a decent size, not as good as this one yet........brilliant plants though.

DD - this one is twelve years old now. It gets a dry mulch every autumn but I don't cut down the top growth until I see new shoots the following spring

It's either woody material or straw from the compost heap that hasn't rotted down, or dry fern fronds (newly cut)
