Just a stunning color combination! Like the flower was painted by an artist!

The colour is stunning but the perfume is wonderful.... they are lovely little beauties aren't they? Prodigious seed producers... I prefer the solid colours...this year I have a warm yellow and a fuchsia pink!

My Mum gave me a couple of tubors of this plant from the ideal home expidition.
I planted them, and they have grown to about 3 foot so far, loads of bright green leaves, but when can I expect to see some flowers? any ideas?
Thanks

They are a late blooming periennal for me here in zone 7 Lhefford . They may be an annual for you depending on where you live. Mine just started to bloom last week. Also as you may already know, they only bloom when the sun is not on them, so it's ideal to plant them in an east facing spot where they only get direct sunlight till midday. Then they will start to only around 4 o'clock as the name implies. If they are getting direct sunlight in the afternoon, the buds might not open until 6:00pm or later. Hope this answers you question...:-)

Thank you Flcrazy, I live in the channel Islands in the UK, the plants are getting sunshine until about midday, then they are in shade. They are HUGE, cannot belive how quickly they are growing, since my last post I would say they are nearly 4 foot! I dont see any flower buds at all, just more leaves..... and up and up they grow, I cant wait to see the flowers when they eventually appear.
Thank you so much for your reply.
Regards
Lesley

Next year you might like to try a four o'clock named 'limelight'. Being four o'clocks bloom late , you might appreciate the added bonus of a more colorful foliage on these, which is chartruese with lime colored streaks on some of the leaves. It's very eye catching in the garden, even when there are no blooms. It has fuchsia pink blooms. If you'll look in the lower right corner of this photo you can get a glimse of what one looks like .
