So sorry for the delay in answering; your comment didn't come up in the "pics that have been commented on" - pics that are added to plants don't seem to show comments. I just happened to flick thorugh my albym and saw a pic with just one comment, so checked and that was another pic I'd added to a new plant which had been commented on, so I thought I'd better check the rest of my pics, and so found your comment.
I did cut back, hesitantly! first time I've had grass long enough to be cut, and wasn't sure when to cut back or bow much to cut. The grass is only about two years old, so not had time to mature into woody stems? but not sure about that.
I have three different grasses, so I cut each at a different time to a different level - I think I did it in autum/winter because the stems were all brown and falling over. I remember I had my fingers firmly crossed when I did it.
I wasn't sure what variety it was then, so I wasn't able to look up specific care; but now I know, I can make sure I do it right next time; or less wrong, at least.

Notice there no woody stems do you cut it right back in spring.
