I managed to find one of these on a market stall yesterday and nearly bit the poor man's hand off, I was so anxious to buy it. It looks very similar in colouring to this, so where do you suggest I plant it, Denise? I don't suppose it likes hot and dry, does it, by any happy chance? Is it fully hardy? I hope mine grows to look as good as this.

They are H4 hardy and like full sun or partial shade in moist well drained sandy, chalk or clay soils. I grow mine in damp shade and also in full sun in baked clay and find once they get going they have done well in both areas. As long as you grow them in fertile soil I think you will be ok as long as they dont get bone dry.

Gosh, Denise, that makes me feel as though I had bought several, then I could try them in each of the available sites - hot dry, shady damp, and all stages in between, with a very cold winter to help them on their way! Thanks.
