That's the same as my pittosporum B and it came through the winter totally unharmed with no protection....should be fine I think! btw, little bird told me you went shopping today!! lol

I've taken my very large dead Pittosporum out and replaced it with a Black Lace Sambucus Barbara .. I'm trying to choose plants / shrubs with less winter worry ........

Oh how true. So am I!

Yes, me too. No more fat-leaved hebes for me! and the Arbutus is not being replaced either. Well, it is being replaced - but with an semi-evergreen fruiting Ribes plant. Flowers, fruit and foliage.....a first rate plant in my book!

Interesting - I have Ribes sanguneum 'White Icicle', but not a fruiting species.

Yes, I haven't a clue what it is called. It was a gift from my neighbour. It's a bit of a rampant grower but i have it on a fence and hopefully it will give us a bit more cover from the neighbour. I saw it in my friend's allotment and was given a bit then and it sat in a pot over winter because i had nowhere to put it...so when the arbutus succumbed I thought...aha!....

That's called 'seeing an opportunity'...:-))

I've just realised, what a 'numpty' I am! This isn't the same as my pittosporum. It's the same as the one I had in my Dundee garden! However, I never had any problems with hardiness with that one either! The one I have now isn't variegated at all!

25 Apr, 2010

Oooohh - I'm glad you said it was hardy - I have the 'all-green' version, and that's absolutely fine here. It's almost a tree.

Yes, mine too. I've started clipping it so it's getting a bit like a topiary lollipop!

25 Apr, 2010

Different! I'd need a BIG stepladder to reach up to 'do' mine! LOL

25 Apr, 2010

Oh no, not another opportunity for toppling! what with the apple blossom clematis and all.....you'd better take care!

At least the 'big' Pittosporum isn't by the stream. ;-)
