It is a small shrub TT, only about 1' tall, and spreads out a wee bit more. the main attraction is the scented leaves. It is called New Zealand Mint Bush.

A new one to me very pretty.......

It is pretty and it's one of my favourite evergreens.

Ours is not flowering, but it is a new plant, so it is hardy then, we were told they were tender.....

Yes, DD, me too. I was sure I would lose mine this winter but they have not even flinched!! Sometimes I am baffled by hardiness ratings! They are in the South East facing front garden so they do get a lot of sunshine all morning, but I am overjoyed that they are all (5 of them) looking pristine and untouched by the cold.

Thanks for the info... lovely ! :o)

I've never seen this before, I love the tight foliage. This could be a slope contender :-))

Oh yes, for sure Ann!

When you say you have 5, are they all the same or have you different varieties?
10 Jun, 2010
No dotty, they are all the same. I have them in my front garden, i'm increasing them to make a low growing hedge, but they are quite expensive, so I just get a couple every year and grow other things between them!

I seeeeee.good idea.

Glad to see this, Ks, as I have two of them, and you don't see them very often on this site. Mine are as tough as old boots, and as you know, really pretty when they flower :~))
15 Jun, 2010
Ah, good Flori.....do you prune and if so how does it respond?
15 Jun, 2010
Mine seem to stay very low, so I don't tend to have to have to prune them back where they are, Ks. I have just taken the odd bit of deadwood out now and again, but it seems to do fine. :~))
15 Jun, 2010
Ah, yes, mine are low too but they are spreading out a bit over the drive. I probably won't need to cut them, but I did read that if you prune them after flowering they are ok. Just wondered if you'd ever tried it!
15 Jun, 2010
Not as yet, Ks, but that info worth knowing~what a gem you are!

Cheers! :))

Am glad at last I am making a little leeway into some of your posts, Ks. It can be hard work playing catch up, can't it, but am so glad I have. Your photos are a joy to see my friend! :~)))))x
