I bought a purple one just recently, I wanted a red one too, but the ones the GC had in had finished flowering, so I just got the purple which is flowering nicely now.

If they still have the red one, it may be reduced as its past flowering, but if you put it in now it will have plenty of time to build up for next year. If I find something that grows well in our garden I am happy to try different ones too.

It wasn't reduced when I last looked, but will keep an eye out. I'm like that too, I tend to have certain favourites that grow well for me and buy several of them in different varieties!:)

I have the normal P.vulgaris.Also the white one,a pink one and a different purple one,P.albana.I also have P.halleri which I think is a type of vulgaris.I've tried to get other species growing from seed but no luck yet.Probably a lack of fresh seed.

I didn't realise their colours were so varied.
