Couldn't resist a pic of this gorgeous Robinia tree in all it's glory. I'm hoping my young
one will be this shade, so far it is plain green!

Stunning! I just LOVE this tree. It is like a light, such a lovely shape and always looks good.

They really are stunning tree Blue, but I'm afraid my small one has stayed dark green, so this year will be coming out...:o(

Not ever heard of that before Janey, are you saying it used to be yellow ?

No....I bought it in good faith that it was the golden form, but as it's grown it has a dark leaf. I posted a question a while ago about it...and had a few conflicting answers....either that it was in the shade and would as it grew with more light, develop the golden leaves, but someone elses had been golden right from planting. I decided to leave it another year and now it has reached a height of about 12ft...last year the leaves opened dark green even though they were in the sun all summer. Its stem is still slim so I can easily replace it with something of more interest......it is a shame though, a healthy specimen, but a background tree...:o(
Up-date Blue....i've just been having a look on Google at the Robinia pseudocacia...and had forgotten that they do have beautiful white wisteria-like flowers in May....I'm wondering though how old they have to be before they produce flower buds.
Thanks Blue for commenting on my pic....I'll give it another year now...Lol!

Janey, It might be more yellow-green in shade, but certainly not green. So either you were sold the wrong tree (purchased in winter ?) or a small chance the grafted scion has been mistakenly cut away or died, and the understock has been allowed to grow. I think it takes a fair while for them to flower, and i have never seen the cultivar 'Frisia' in flower at all.

I believe I was sold the wrong tree...Blue, it has the same leaf shape and spines on the stems, but is dark green in colour. .Yes I bought it in Winter when it was basically just a stick. No I haven't seen the Frisia in flower either, but the Robinia pseudoacacia or Locust Tree has the gorgeous scented racemes of flowers in Spring...then later the hanging bean pods.
