Rosemary blooming in ropey January! (Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary))

I've two large-ish Rosemary shrubs on the lower bund hill.
Always makes me happy to see them starting to bloom early! It made me smile today. Both shrubs have a few flowers on each! Yay!

Thank you, Sheila! I'm sorry your Rosemary hasn't bloomed for you - that's a pity. They are quite attractive in colour. These 2 shrubs usually bloom early in the year.

Thanks Paul! You're right, evergreens are the backbone of the garden. I'm hoping to plant out my recent evergreen purchases soon, now that there's a period of milder temperatures. 🤞

Goodness, yours looks green and fresh, Kate. I noticed in the week that mine is practically a 'gonner'. I put it in a pot with free-draining soil 'cos the garden soil is clay, but looks like it won't revive. I doubt I'll try again as this is the second one I've lost. You must have exact conditions it likes. Pretty flowers here.

Thank you, Ange. Yes, I'm fortunate they do well on the bund hill.
Lots of sunshine in summer, great drainage, fairly sheltered too!
It's a pity yours hasn't thrived, but, I am like you with certain plants, try a second time and then no more. It's frustrating and expensive to keep persisting. I was the same with Hebes. I've sadly given up..

Lovely shrub, I keep mine shaped, and in doing so, lose the flowers.

Ange, I planted a Rosemary shrub back in 2010 when the sunny South facing front garden had a make-over. The soil is Sussex clay, yet it thrives. I will put a photo of it on for you. I do have a potful of cuttings, should you wish to try again!

Thanks for the offer, Shirley. Can I take you up on that when the weather dries out a bit?

28 Jan, 2023

Definitely! Just let me know when you are ready to receive a couple of cuttings.

Thats has a good coloured flower, mine, not flowering, is a wishy washy blue.

Thanks ladies! Shirley, I don't prune them, I guess maybe that's why it flowers every year?
I just let them do their thing up on the bund for coverage.

Kate, pretty sure that's why yours flowers ... :o)

Thanks Shirley and Julia, appreciate your thoughts. Mine are free to grow as everything on the bund is for coverage.
