Some plants and shrubs haven't come through the long hard winter very well Karen. Some of mine died and so I've sorted out a few different new ones.

Yes, I also seem to have a few spaces where there should be plants, especially in the north facing area. I can see a GC trip coming on, probably Wednesday!

Janey hope it is as good as Goldflame, our yellow does well here.
Paul I am pleased to hear that....
Karen and Lindak it is a pity when shrubs die, especially valued ones, our Escallonia Gold Ellen quite a large one now, looks very much the worse for wear, it is a slightly tender shrub at the best of times, it has been the bitterly cold wind that has done the damage, will be difficult to remove it now, because we open the garden in three weeks!! and there would be a large space, will have to do it in September if it does not improve!! that's gardening for you!!

Hope you do well with your open garden. I used to open mine when we lived down the road and it's a lot of hard work but well worth it and I raised a lot of many for different causes.
